Privacy, in plain words

What this site records when you visit, what it does not, and how to ask about anything we hold.

  • Accounts None You can read and copy everything without signing up.
  • Cookies None The site sets no cookies. Your light or dark choice is kept in your browser’s local storage.
  • Email Kept to reply Mail you send is kept only as long as it takes to answer it.

What we store

Your theme choice, light or dark, saved in your browser’s local storage under the name cl-theme. It stays on your device, and you can clear it with your browser’s site data settings.

Email you send to editor@codelifter.com, including your address and whatever the message contains.

Like every website, the server has to receive your browser’s request to send a page back. Those requests are used to deliver the site and keep it working, not to build a profile of you.

Analytics

The site counts visits with one cookieless web analytics beacon, run by the company that hosts and delivers the site. The beacon is added to pages by the hosting network, not by a script the editors wrote. It records page views and page load timing, and sets no cookies. The provider states that it does not collect or use visitors’ personal data.

We see totals only, such as which pages were read and which were slow. The site runs no advertising trackers, no social media pixels and no other analytics tool.

Email

Mail to editor@codelifter.com passes through the hosting company’s email routing service, which forwards it to the editors’ mailbox. We use it only to read and answer your message and to act on a correction or suggestion. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not share your message with anyone else.

The forum

This notice covers codelifter.com. The forum at forum.codelifter.com runs as a separate service, and anything you post or sign in with there is covered by the notice on the forum.

Your rights

Write to editor@codelifter.com to ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. In practice the only personal information we might hold is an email you sent us. Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you further rights, including a complaint to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this notice changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top.
